Caravan City

The increasingly popular Caravan recently extended its group of restaurants to a spot in Bloomberg Arcade. This is the group’s fourth restaurant opening since 2010, adding to locations in Exmouth Market, King’s Cross and Bankside. The new project in Bloomberg Arcade is a multi-terraced, all day dining restaurant which took reference from the Victorian streetscape. This is the largest site with the space accommodating over 200 guests.


Advance was challenged to come up with a complete end to end process which would include a new, bespoke design. It was very important to partner closely with Caravan in the design process to allow Advance to understand exactly what they needed to help meet their demand in the restaurant. By undertaking a number of design sessions, Advance gained a deep understanding of the business model and realised that Caravan has constant high demand. The conclusions from this were that a kitchen solution that helped maximise productivity would be needed in order to meet this demand.


Due to the need for end to end management, Advance took over the previous service contract to provide the design, supply, installation and product life asset management for the kitchen solution. Advance took time to understand the ergonomics and therefore established that as well driving productivity the kitchen equipment would need to be functional, as efficiency of movement is a high priority for Caravan. By controlling the specifications and project design, with input from the client, Advance was able to provide the perfect equipment to meet the kitchen requirements.

Advance installed a completely bespoke design that was spacious and included the equipment that was needed to maximise productivity. The company installed an Angelo Po cook line which ensured straightforward maintenance. The Angelo Po cook line is reliable and it can also be pulled apart effortlessly which ensures minimal kitchen downtime during maintenance.
