Haven owns and operates 40 family holiday parks, providing caravan, touring and camping facilities across the UK in predominantly coastal locations. Their awards include Travel Weekly’s Globe Travel Award 2019 for “Best UK Holidays Operator” and ‘Best UK Family Holiday Parks Operator’ at the 2018 British Travel Awards.
Haven Holidays first started working with Advance in 2011. At that early time the holiday park group were looking for assistance with the development of their commercial kitchen maintenance. Most of the servicing and purchasing of new equipment was done at site level with a lack of transparency on spend and asset condition.
Advance’s first task was to collect all the details of the kitchen equipment assets in each of the 40 locations, to ensure that a complete equipment list was created for each Haven site. Each kitchen equipment asset was tagged, with its age, condition and power rating added to the central database. During these early stages a commercial kitchen designer was sent to each Haven to draw up a detailed floor plan of each kitchen, which then enabled Advance to create an up to date kitchen CAD plan. we then followed on with a full maintenance and gas certification visit to make sure each site was compliant and highlight any remedial works required to their equipment.
During the winter shut-down Advance then embarked on a process of making sure each site was ready for the season ahead. This ranged from individual repairs and replacements to larger refurbishments. Advance used the kitchen plans from the designer to retro-fit Thermodyne holding units into each kitchen to ensure that the kitchen could accommodate the busy peak seasons.
Over the years Advance have worked with Haven to standardise their equipment across the Group. This has allowed Advance to ensure that each service and maintenance engineer has the correct parts on their van to support the Haven all year round.
The history of each asset is recorded on our asset management database including an up to date picture of the asset with all required measurements. This data is then used to proactively guide Haven on which assets will need to be budgeted for over the coming years.
We then carry out all the latest gas certification and maintenance on each site throughout the close season to make sure the kitchens are fully operational for the next season.
